Our 3rd annual CameraWorks exhibition was juried by Harvey Stein of International center of Photography, School of Visual Arts and Umbrella Arts Gallery.  Exhibition dates:  June 6 – June 27 with an Opening Reception and Awards Ceremony from 2 – 4 pm on Sunday, June 6.

ABOUT  THE  EXHIBITION

CameraWorks is designed as an exploration of all the photographic arts from the most traditional to the least conventional.  We welcome all formats – b/w or color, film or digital, photo collage, montage and videos.

ABOUT THE JUROR

Harvey Stein is a professional photographer, teacher, lecturer, author and curator based in New York City.  He currently teaches at the International Center of Photography and in the Master of Professional Studies Program in Digital Photography at the School of Visual Arts.  Stein is a frequent lecturer on photography both in the United States and abroad.  He is the Director of Photography at Umbrella Arts Gallery, located in the East Village of Manhattan.  He has also been a member of the faculty of the New School University, Drew University, Rochester Institute of Technology and the University of Bridgeport.  A recipient of a Creative Arts Public Service (CAPS) fellowship and numerous artist in residency grants, Stein’s latest book, Movimento: Glimpses of Italian Street Life, was published in 2006 by Gangemi Editore (Rome).  His work is represented by the Bruce Silverstein Gallery, Throckmorton Fine Art and June Bateman Fine Art, New York City.  Stein’s work can be seen on his web site, www.harveysteinphoto.com.

ELIBIBILITY: CameraWorks is open to all artists using photographic or videographic techniques or elements in their work.  There are no geographic restrictions.  Ridgefield Guild of Artists (RGA) is not responsible for packing or shipping fees.

AWARDS:  Cash awards for Best in Show, 1st, 2nd and 3rd  place and Youth (22 and under) – 1st place.

ENTRY/FEES: Artists may submit up to 5 images on CD-ROM, or DVD for film or videos. We cannot accept any entries by email.   Fee Per Image:  Guild members – $10; non-members – $15, payable by cash (in person); check or money order to “RGA/CameraWorks”; MasterCard or Visa.  All entry fees are due with submission form and images.  Fees are nonrefundable.

CD-ROM: For all 2D images, and for view(s) of 3D/installation work.  Write artist name on CD surface.  No labels or other sticky materials, please.  Submit each image as a high quality JPEG with medium resolution (150-300 dpi).  Identify each image with artist name/entry #/title.  Ex: Smith_Mary_01_Title.

DVD: For all video/multimedia work.  Submit full-length piece.  Juror maintains discretion to accept/decline based on viewing samples.  Write artist name on DVD surface.  No labels or other sticky materials, please.  All DVD entries must include artist/title/running time.

INSTALLATION: Artists may be asked to assist with installation of their works if pieces require special equipment, placement or design parameters.

COMMISSION: RGA will handle all sales for photographers.  Photographers will retain 60% of sales price, and RGA will retain 40% of total sale.  The price indicated on the entry form will be considered the retail price of each image.

INDEMNITY: RGA will handle all submissions and accepted works with utmost care: however, RGA is not responsible for damage to exhibited works.
