For new and returning students. Instructor Laura McCormick will introduce your child to multiple media including watercolor painting, pastels, ink, charcoal and more. Laura is a freelance artist specializing in charcoal and pastel portraiture and has a unique and engaging way of teaching. All materials included.

Photography Club: Learn to See Creatively – Tuesdays

Photography Club for Middle and High School Students Tuesday 3:15-4:45pm

Whether you are new to photography or already know a thing or two, Photography Club is a place to develop your eye and learn to see creatively, no matter where your interests lie.

New and returning students will explore different genres of photography, learn to “read” and critique work of others and their own, make sun prints and with fun games and exercises, learn what it takes to make a great photograph.

This session will culminate with an exhibition on the last day for friends and family to view the students’ work.

Please bring a digital camera (no camera phones, please) and a clean memory card.  All other supplies will be provided and arrangements can be made to borrow a camera, if needed.

Elisa Keogh is a fine art photographer who believes that with a little thought and understanding of light and composition anyone can begin to think creatively and take great photographs.  Elisa uses fun exercises and group activities and discussion to teach digital photography to children of all ages.  For more information about her and her work visit www.elisakeogh.com.

Comic Book Illustrations for Middle and High School Students Tuesday 3:15-4:45pm

Learn to take your imagination and your drawing skills to new heights while making comic strip illustrations. Students will create creatures, characters and stories by developing their skills at observation and learning the basic techniques of illustration and rendering. Guided daily drawing exercises will help students to understand human anatomy and proportions in order to create exciting comic strips. Ages 8+

Instructor Laura McCormick will have weekly projects, and students are encouraged to explore a wide variety of art styles and techniques, while strengthening both their artistic skills and their understanding of art. Each student is encouraged to work at their own level and stretch their imagination in a relaxed and fun environment.

Sculpture for Middle and High School Students Thursday 3:15-4:45pm

Instructor Justin Perlman will introduce students to sculpture in the round as well as relief sculpture. Students are encouraged to explore the different materials in the process of sculpture. There will be moderate hand tool usage (age relevant). Basic materials will be provided. Clothing that can get dirty is recommended.

She studied at the Traphagen School of Design in NYC.  Carol has been teaching at the Guild for many years and has helped hundreds of students develop their talents.

Registration & Student Membership Information


REGISTRATION INFORMATION

  • You may register by submitting the registration form (below) with either a check or credit card number, by phone with a credit card number or by Paypal through the website at RGOA.ORG under education.  You may also register in person at the the Guild where cash and credit cards are accepted.
  • Classes are filled on a first-come-first-served basis.
  • Tuition will be refunded if the class is cancelled or filled
  • Classes not held due to inclement weather or the instructor’s absence will be rescheduled
  • When the Ridgefield public schools are closed because of weather RGA is also closed. If the Ridgefield Schools announce a delayed opening, the classes at the Guild will start at their usual time.

STUDENT MEMBERSHIP COST $30 INCLUDES:

  • Inclusion in all-member exhibitions
  • Discounted fees for classes, workshops, life drawing and special events
  • Opportunities to interact and create with other artists through RGA events
  • Discounted fees for annual juried exhibition

Inclement Weather Guidelines for All Classes

The Guild follows the Ridgefield Department of Education (see ridgefieldct.org) guidelines for school closings and early dismissals. If schools are dismissed early or are closed, the Guild will close and no classes will be held that day.

*Please note, if the schools have a delayed opening, our morning classes will proceed at the scheduled time without a delay.*

Classes and events that are cancelled due to inclement weather will be rescheduled.
