Member artist, Cynthia Mullins, is co-curator for a show at the Ridgefield Library entitled, “Expressive Women of NAWA.” The National Association of Women Artists (NAWA) is the oldest continuous art organization for women founded in 1889 at a time when professional art leagues and guilds were only for men. Since March is Women’s History Month, the library and NAWA joined together to celebrate the women artists of NAWA in this show. Artists have been selected nationally from Connecticut to California with a selection of styles from figurative to abstract, realist to highly stylized and portraiture to landscape. Penny Dell, past president of NAWA, will present a talk about NAWA and it’s history in the library program room at 2 pm followed by the Opening Reception at 3pm.
