Attention: Tomorrow’s Radius Opening Postponed

Weather permitting the Radius exhibition will be open on Sunday, February 28 from 12 – 4 pm with the reception taking place on Saturday, March 6 from 2-4 pm.

Please note: The Radius Professional Practice Forum at the Aldrich will take place on Sunday, February 28 instead of Saturday.

RADIUS

Radius has entered its second decade! Radius is a professional development program organized by The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum in conjunction with the Ridgefield Guild of Artists to promote the growth and interests of regional artists. The Radius program has multiple components, including a professional practice forum, annual juried exhibition, workshops, and networking events.

Learn about technology’s impact on today’s studio practice then celebrate the 12th annual Radius exhibition of work by up-and-coming regional artists on Saturday, February 27, 2010.

32nd Annual Juried Show

The Ridgefield Guild of Artists is happy to invite the public to the opening of its 32nd Annual Juried Show on Sunday, Sept 27 from 2-5 pm at its 34 Halpin Lane gallery.

This year’s juror was Amy Smith-Stewart, gallerist and MFA instructor at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. From over 350 entries, Ms. Smith-Stewart chose some 50 works in a variety of media, including oils, pastels, photos and mixed media. Cash prizes will be awarded for Best in Show, First, Second and Third Place, and several Awards for Excellence will be presented, too.

Come out and see the show, meet with members and enjoy refreshments provided by Nature’s Temptations.

Rachel Volpone: Color Fields (Sept 19 – Oct 1, 2009)

Rachel Volpone will be the next featured artist in The Guild’s Upstairs Gallery exhibiting from Sept 19 – Oct 1. Her show, “Color Fields,” is a series of mainly abstract works that explore and celebrate the elements of color, pattern and form. According to Rachel, “Each surface is slowly built up to reveal intentional and accidental shapes as the canvas takes on a personality of its own.”

The opening reception will be on Sun, Sept 27,

Radius Exhibition

Radius has entered its second decade! Radius is a professional development program organized by The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum in conjunction with the Ridgefield Guild of Artists to promote the growth and interests of regional artists.

Artists who participate in the Radius exhibition are chosen from a review of submissions received following an open call for entries. In addition to the group exhibition at the Ridgefield Guild of Artists, selected artists receive an individual exchange with a curator, through a review of their portfolio and original work, focusing on professional development. Radius also includes networking opportunities, workshops, and a public forum to address important issues for professional advancement.

Deadline for Radius Submissions: Applications for the Radius exhibition will be accepted from September 1 to October 16, 2009. All applications will be reviewed by the Radius Selection Committee, comprised of curators from The Aldrich and the Guild. Applications for Radius will only be accepted online. Qualified applicants may submit applications to Radius only once every two years.

The opening reception for the exhibition featuring the 2009 selections will be held at the Guild of Artists on February 27, 2010.
