About The Exhibition

The Ridgefield Guild of Artists celebrates the artistic talent of member artists with our 7th annual Juried Member Show running May 13 through June 18. This exhibit gives member artists an opportunity to have their work viewed by our juror, Helen Kauder, Executive Director at Artspace New Haven in New Haven, CT. We encourage all our members to participate. All media, except giclée prints of paintings and drawings is welcome.

 

Awards

Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place winners. First Place prize includes a January 2018 solo exhibition in the Guild’s Upstairs Gallery ($250 value).

 

Media

The Guild accepts original work in all media for the jurying process. No giclée prints of paintings and drawings allowed. Any work previously exhibited in any show in the Guild’s main galleries is not eligible for submission to this competition. Only works created within the last three years will be accepted. Wall hung art is limited to 48” in any direction. The Guild reserves the right to reject any entry that does not comply with our guidelines.

Entry/Fees

The Guild’s 3-part entry forms will be available to fill out when you bring your work for receiving. The show is open to all Ridgefield Guild of Artists members. Non-members may join when they drop off work for submission. Artists may submit up to 3 works. Fees are $20 for first entry and $15 each for second and third entries, payable by cash, check or credit card. Fees are nonrefundable and payable to RGA.

 

Accepted Work

Only accepted artists will be published on our website (rgoa.org) by 9 pm on Tuesday, May 9, 2017. Pick up of unaccepted work is Wednesday, May 10, 10-6pm AND Thursday, May 11, 12-2pm. ***A $20 fee will be assessed for any artwork not taken at regular pick-up times. No exceptions.**

 

 

Pick Up of Accepted Works at End of Show

Accepted works should be picked up after the show closes on Sunday, June 18, 4-6pm OR Monday, June 19, from 12-4pm. **A $20 charge will be assessed for works not taken at regular pick-up times. No exceptions.** 

 

 

Criteria

New members will be accepted at receiving and will be eligible to enter the show.

All artwork must be for sale. 
Be sure your prices are correct, there will be no changes made after acceptance.

All members are invited to submit up to 3 pieces of work in any media. Diptychs and Triptychs are allowed but total dimension of the assembled piece must be within the 48” x 48” restriction and must be sold as one piece.

Wall-hung work must be wired and ready for hanging unless there is an artistic reason to use another 
method. Saw-tooth hangers are not allowed, and all work must be secure in the frame. 
Any piece that has a loose frame, falling artwork within the frame, insufficient numbers of fasteners to secure the artwork within the frame, an improper or insecure method of attaching the wire, or any other non-professional presentation will mean the work must be removed and made right prior to acceptance and must be returned to the gallery within the drop-off time period to be included in the show. Sculpture must be fully assembled and secured to a stable base and weigh no more than 150lbs.

All work must be dry and we will check to insure this. It will not be accepted.

All work must be delivered within the drop-off time period. No work will be accepted after the time period is over. Also, be sure your information is correct at the time of delivery and registering. Changes will not be allowed after the fact.

All selected work must remain for the duration of the show. No work may be removed for any reason before the closing of the show.

At the end of the show all work must be picked-up during the stated time periods. Any work left at the Guild after pick-up has ended is subject to a $20 storage fee. We do not have a safe place to store any artwork and we cannot store it. If possible please have your work picked up by someone else.

Sculptors: bring your own base if possible. Your work 
must not exceed 150 pounds. 
Artists may be asked to install “special-need” installations themselves.

Recent pieces please! Work should have been created no earlier than 2013. Work already shown at the 
Guild will not be eligible.

 

Sales & Indemnity

All works must be for sale. Guild retains a 40% commission on all sales. The Ridgefield Guild of Artists will take the greatest possible care of all submitted works but will not be responsible for any damage to or loss of work submitted, exhibited or left unclaimed.
