Amy Smith-Stewart, Chief Curator, Aldrich Museum
Amy Smith-Stewart is Chief Curator at The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum in Ridgefield, CT, and the founder of the eponymous nomadic curatorial project, previously located on the Lower East Side. She was formerly a Curator at MoMA PS1, a Curatorial Advisor for the Mary Boone Gallery, and the 2006–08 Guest Curator for the Peter Norton Collection and has served on faculty at the School of the Visual Arts, MFA Fine Arts department, and the Sotheby’s Institute of Art MA Contemporary Art program. She has curated more than ninety exhibitions in museums, collections, galleries, and temporary spaces. Smith-Stewart was profiled in The New York Times Sunday Styles in 2010
“Thank you to Ridgefield Guild of Artists for inviting me to serve as juror for the 47th Annual Juried Show. I was deeply impressed by the depth and talent of all the artists who submitted their work. I want to recognize each artist who shared their work with me. The submissions showcased a wide range of ideas, expressions, and approaches, highlighting the tremendous power of the imagination. The works varied significantly in scale, materials, and methods, encompassing photography, painting, sculpture, textiles, paper, ceramics, and mixed media and ranged from figuration to abstraction, including experiments in still life and landscape traditions. The subject matter was also diverse, spanning the personal, political, ecological, and spiritual. Jurying is a challenging process; decisions must be made based solely on digital images, making my selections inherently subjective. I encourage those not included in the final selection to continue pursuing their artistic visions. Thank you again to the Ridgefield Guild of Artists for the invitation, and my heartfelt gratitude goes to every artist for their unique contributions.

Pickup of unsold work*: Sunday, October 27th from 4 – 5pm and Monday, October 28th from 2 – 4 pm:
**All work must be picked up during the pick-up periods or a $20 late fee will be applied. NO EXCEPTIONS. If you cannot be there yourself, please make arrangements with a friend or family member to pick up your work for you. The Guild cannot be responsible for works left behind.
