Developing Better Oil Paintings with Rich Alexander: Tuesdays 10am-1pm
Rich Alexander Archive: Adult
Rich Alexander’s oil painting class will study the basic techniques for developing an oil painting concentrating mainly on the still life. Drawing skills, color relationships, value, design and edges will be emphasized and taught and used to enhance the oil painting experience. A strong emphasis will be the development of drawing skills. Students of every level are welcome. Students can expect to learn and develop using their own interpretation of lessons as each student is unique and should strive to develop their individual style.
Rich Alexander is a retired NYC Fire Lieutenant and a trained Draftsman. He studied traditional oil painting at the prestigious Ridgewood Art Institute from 2012 until present under the direction of John Osborne, Rebecca Leer and Murray Smith. Rich has studied with many other nationally recognized painters and has won numerous awards for oil painting. Recently Rich won one of the top award at the 41st Annual Ridgewood Art institute’s Annual Open Juried Show. In 2020 Rich won first place in the Ridgefield Guild of Artists Annual open juried show. Rich has shown at many National Oil Painters of America Shows and won the “Award of Excellence” At the Oil Painters of America “Rocky Mountain High” competition in Steamboat Springs Colorado. Rich has shown in museums around the country and is represented by galleries near and far.
Rich emphasizes the fact that he couldn’t have excelled without the help of the talented instructors he’s studied with over the years and has developed his craft based on they’re teachings. I’m hoping to pass along what I have learned and excited to see others develop better paintings.
