Using illustration as our starting point, we will explore various artistic techniques including drawing, pen and ink, and figure drawing.  We will learn what makes an interesting illustration and how to achieve that through color and composition. We will also explore the world of illustration and look at the masters of the craft to decipher what makes them great and how we can learn from them.

SUPPLIES:

Please bring drawing supplies, a sketchbook, and a highlighter.  Other supplies will be provided.

Jesse Navarra is a recent MFA graduate from Western Connecticut State University.  There he discovered his passion for teaching as well as developed his love of illustration.  Using drawing as the basis for his work, he creates mixed media pieces using pop culture as his inspiration.  He is currently working on his first education children’s book to be published this year and is a full time designer and screen printer.
