Step outside the Ridgefield Guild of Artists studio and discover the joy of painting directly from life in this welcoming beginner-friendly plein air workshop. Designed for absolute beginners, this class introduces the fundamentals of outdoor painting in a relaxed, supportive environment — no prior experience required.

Students will paint the historic Norway Maple, right outside our building at 34 Halpin Lane in Ridgefield.

Participants will learn how to observe light, color, and atmosphere while working outdoors. The workshop covers essential plein air processes,including simple composition, drawing, value and color mixing, brush handling, and how to quickly capture a scene before the light changes. Students will also learn practical tips for setting up and painting comfortably outside.

No materials required. Ridgefield Guild of Artists will provide the following materials:

• Easel

• Small sketchbook

• Canvas board

• Acrylic paints and brushes

But, if you already have some experience in Plein Air or have materials for another medium, feel free to bring your own supplies.

Please wear a hat for sun protection, bring bug spray, and drinking water. Also bring a stool or folded chair if needed.

About Daisy: Daisy De Puthod  has 35 year’s experience painting plein-air and has been juried in over 25 National Plein-air events.
