Painting for all Levels with Clarice Shirvell

Spring I: 7 wks – Mar 5, 12, 26, Apr 2, 9, 23, 30

For beginners and beyond! 

Beginners will work in acrylics from reference photo or still life provided by instructor. More advance artists may bring in their own projects and choose to work in their medium of choice, acrylics, oil, charcoal, ink, watercolor. Instructor will provide guidance, critiques, demos, and tips for any artists.

Art Supply List:

Acrylic artist quality paints (Goldens, Liquitex)

If you work with a different medium, bring your supplies. The colors I suggest is a limited palette, good for learning to mix colors. If you are working in oil, only odorless Turpenoid in studio.

Colors

Ultramarine blue

Cerulean blue

Cadmium red medium

Cadmium yellow medium

Yellow ochre

Burnt sienna

Titanium white (5oz) you will use more than any other color

Smart Phone

Palette (roll of freezer paper)

Paper towel (Viva brand no texture)

A container for water (washing Brush)

Spray mist bottle

Canvas choose 12×16 or 16×20 or 18×24

Blue painters’ tape

Mix media paper pad 9×12 or larger

Pencil

Brushes rounds and flats or brights – various sizes #10 #8 #6

A smock or apron and gloves are recommended

 

Clarice Shirvell has a BA in Studio Art and Business and began her career in a NYC design studio. Over the past ten years she has been working on commissions, solo exhibits, and children’s book illustrations. She is an award-winning artist whose paintings and drawings have been exhibited in galleries and museums in the tri-state area. Clarice’s philosophy is teaching the Art of Seeing.
